Cloud = Connection to Payments Server

Regardless of the Payment Terminal make and model, we need to make sure that the cloud symbol is ON on the top of the machine screen ( left or right side depends on the model )

Terminal to be Online

Confirming if there is an indication of the Network connectivity : 4G  or WiFi or LAN or Bluetooth

We currently offer 2 brands of terminals.  Castles : SIF2 - Android Terminal, e-sim for data, 100% surface is touch. Verifone : V400m - physical sim for data, touch screen and an analog number pad.

 

Navigating the Terminal

There are 4 or 5 primary (based on the brand) sections on a payment terminal. Below are screenshots and a brief listing of individual options within each of these sections. Please refer to this article ( Terminal Features ) for in depth understanding of all options

Standalone Payments

Castles or Verifone: Press Payment icon 

If there is no payment icon , that means standalone mode is disabled.

Enter an amount – continue , present card to accept payments, standalone.

Settings

Castles : Press Settings icon on the home screen

mPOS, OPay, etc.

Your POS provider could provide you with any custom apps, usually allowing you to take payments at tables, take orders, etc. This can be hosted on Castles S1F2 terminals only. These custom apps.

Terminal basic troubleshooting steps

  • Go to Terminal Settings. Steps to navigate to settings depends on the terminal type. 
  • Go to Network Settings – enter passcode ( 4 digit code,  merchant to provide )
  • Overview, Wifi, Bluetooth, Cellular
  • Turn off wifi (to troubleshoot if the local network has internet connectivity issue)
    • Ensure if 4G icon is on the top left 
      S1F2 4G ON when WiFi OFFV400m 4G ON when WiFi OFF

    • Try to process a standalone sale by using the payment option on the bottom right of the main screen
    • If it gone through successfully then terminal connection to payment server is intact and the issue is with Local Network : Connection to Internet or Connection to POS
    • If it does not go through, make a note of the response code
  • Restart the device (if the terminal is unable to take a payment even on 4G)
    • To restart a V400m terminal, Go to settings -> Select Power option -> enter 4 digit code -> select restart

    • To restart a S1F2 terminal, Long press the physical power button on the left side of the terminal

  • Remove the battery and install it back
    • Castles S1F2 : Pull the cover in the direction mentioned on the back of the terminal. Pull the latch to unlock the battery

    • Verifone V400m : Unlock the cover. Battery itself doesn't have any lock. Be careful and do not tilt the terminal back up without holding the battery or until removed, when the battery cover is unlocked. To install the cover back ON, place the hinges of the cover first.

  • If still not taking payment then it either a hardware issue or Acquirer issue depends on the error message. Raise a support ticket
