MCC (Merchant Category Code) Restrictions

Card declined due to MCC restrictions

Merchant category codes (MCCs) are four-digit numbers that credit card issuers use to classify individual purchases according the type of merchant where they were made. The codes serve a variety of purposes, including the calculation and issuance of credit card rewards.


Cards are being declined due to MCC restrictions

Virtual Card from Travel companies such as Expedia, Booking and Agoda are set to MCC code 7011

In the event that merchant's MCC is not set to 7011 , these virtual cards will be declined.

-Merchant has to contact the travel booking companies (who issued the virtual cards) to change their Virtual Cards MCC to their company's current MCC code.

In the event that merchant's MCC is set to 7011 but the virtual cards are being declined.

-Merchant has to contact the travel booking companies to and make sure that Virtual Cards MCC code are set to 7011.


Spriggy Cards are being declined in Restaurant

Spriggy MCC restriction. Refer to Section 10

In the event that restaurant MCC falls to 5813 which Bars & Taverns & Pubs & Nightclubs, Spriggy cards will be declined due to its MCC restrictions.

 

If the restaurant falls to 80% Café's, Restaurants, Cafeterias, we could request acquirer to change their MCC to 5812. Refer to list of sample MCC below.
